A trip to South Haven wouldn’t be complete without a stop at a few of the beautiful beaches this city calls its own. South Haven has a rich maritime past that has always been integrated seamlessly with its modern community. Locals and visitors alike love South Haven for its shoreline and with good reason. While you’re here, be sure to check out North Beach off of Lakeshore Drive if you only have time to see one of them. Guests can enjoy long stretches of pristine sand for soaking up the sun or wander along the wooden pier for a close-up view of the striking red lighthouse. This is also an amazing place to grab vacation photos with the water behind you and the lighthouse stretching up towards the sky.

When you’re traveling with little ones, switch up the list and head to South Beach instead. While this destination still has the beautiful shoreline you’ve been looking for, it also comes with nearby playgrounds as well as a skate park. Soak up the sun while the kids make the most of the age-appropriate entertainment that’s waiting for them. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon that takes every traveler into account.

Beginner hikers will want to head towards Van Buren State Park during their visit for the chance to wander along one of the well-maintained walking trails. Be prepared to be fascinated as you wander through lush forests and as you reach the end of the path, encounter sand dunes with the promise of an incredible view if you’re willing to do the walk up. Those more experienced hikers will want to head towards Kal-Haven Trail where there are opportunities for more strenuous and lengthy hikes that include treks under beautiful, covered bridges as well. This is also a great trail for bikers who are looking to speed things up a bit during their stay.
