Top 5 Destinations for Dream Holidays in 2013

‘Run of the mill’ holidays are becoming outdated for millions of people.  Financial struggles for people around the world mean that, when they do get the opportunity to take a trip abroad, they are going all out to ensure that it is a spectacular occasion that they will remember forever.

With that in mind, we set out to explore the countries that are likely to be the biggest dream destinations for global holidaymakers in the year ahead.

Australia is one of the most popular places on the planet to head for a holiday. Whether it is the warm climate or the constant ‘quality of life’ surveys that rate the country as the best place to live, people are constantly being given some manner of motivation to head Down Under. For us, it would be the wide-open roads and the opportunity to explore as much of the country as possible that would have us heading to Australia as soon as we could.

New Zealand

Just a short hop across the Tasman Sea from Australia, you come to New Zealand. The country enjoyed one huge tourism bounce on the back of the success of the Lord of the Rings films, and is undoubtedly set to get another one thanks to the recent release of The Hobbit.

New Zealand is one of the few countries that can match Australia for variety of terrain in such close proximity, and is a beautiful country that any lovers of the outdoors should look to head to this year.

Brazil

Many people associate Brazil with ‘all-inclusive’ package holidays where you do nothing but sit in a bar or around a swimming pool all day. The truth is, however, that there is so much more to the country than this, whether it is the awe-inspiring industrial cities that dominate the east coast, or the Amazon rainforest that is home to both indigenous peoples and some unique wildlife.

If you plan on a Brazilian holiday, make it richer than just a two-week, by the pool trip.

Mexico

Although Mexico is known for its stunning beaches and turquoise seas, there are many historical sites and nature reserves across the country, with high concentrations near to the popular tourist centres, such as Cancun.

While many will see the country in much the same way as Brazil, there is a myriad of experiences to be had across Mexico that you would be mad to miss out on.

South Africa

A trip to South Africa is all about two things. First, you have to experience the shanty towns that exist in the middle of cities such as Johannesburg and Durban, to see how well poverty stricken South Africans deal with the hand they have been dealt in life. If meeting these people and having some of their positivity rub off on you doesn’t inspire you, then nothing will.

Speaking of inspiration, what better way to top off your dream trip than by taking a safari and spending a few evenings in the wilderness? If you enjoy trips to the zoo at home, then experiencing some of the world’s greatest animals in their natural habitat will be something else.
